Blackjack Tact & Tips
I’ve been fascinated with blackjack since 1988 and I’ve never lost a night of blackjack at a casino. Not ever.
I’ve only won conservative amounts because I’ve bet conservatively. In 2014 I won an 18-player blackjack tournament taking first place. I’ve played on casino cruises, 7-day cruises, New Orleans, and Las Vegas. I’ve even been yelled at by another player – he left the table after I showed him that I was $300 up. I love this game. It makes sense that the company is growing and more and more people are enjoying the game while socializing at the table. Please allow me to share my thoughts about table manners and tips on how to enjoy your evening.
Please know: you are playing a losing game. That’s right, I said it: you are playing a losing game. That’s why it is so sweet when you win. The two best games to play at the casino are craps and blackjack, but blackjack remains king. With intelligent game play, the casino’s edge can be scraped down to 0.63%. That’s darn close to a 50/50 coin flip. But that’s still an “edge” for the house. So when you lose, don’t get upset. If you’re on a losing streak, don’t freak out. And when you win, BE HAPPY! You triumphed against the odds.
Please remember: you are playing a FREE game. We are giving you chips to play based on your bar tab. So again … be HAPPY! We want you to be entertained. Get more drinks; get more chips.
Finally, remember: you are playing a game of chance. Always. Doesn’t matter if you are sitting in the left seat, right seat, middle seat, back seat. You don’t know what card you’re going to get, what your neighbor is going to get, or what the dealer is going to get. So unless you’re a professional card counter, don’t get upset with the dealer for what you got, or with your neighbor for hitting on a 20, or with your other neighbor for splitting tens. It’s a game; you’re at a bar, the dealer is incredibly good-looking, you’re playing for free. So one more time … BE HAPPY!
Five more things to help keep everyone (… you guessed it …) HAPPY.
- Don’t tell others what to do. If you’re coming to free blackjack to tell others how to play … don’t come to free blackjack.
- Feel free to ask the dealer what you should do? They sit and watch hundreds of hands a night. And they want to see you happy – how else do they make their tips? So ask them because they won’t steer you wrong – even if you lose, it was likely good advice.
- Feel free to ask the dealer to explain something like double down or insurance. That’s what we’re here for.
- Be courteous to others at your table. Talk, socialize, banter, gossip, SCREAM, let everyone know what a good time you’re having. Just keep in mind to watch for your turn. It just takes a quick moment to hit or stay.
